The Schwinn 418 Elliptical Cross Trainer is a very good quality cross trainer and one of the most popular in the US as it is competitively priced and has the features of some of the more expensive commercial ellitpicals like Life Fitness. The Schwinn 418 is also designed to accomodate all types of users with it's long 18 inch strider footplates that follow and angle the motion of your feet, supporting the heels. This therefore reduces the strain on the lower part of your legs and feet. It is also extra smooth and quiet as it as it uses Eddy Current Magnetic Braking system. There is also the benefit of a larger front flywheel that delivers a smoother ride when reaching higher and faster speeds. Schwinn call this their High inertia system.

"I purchased the Schwinn 418 from Sweatband Fitness as it was cheaper than anywhere else and includes free delivery. I had also read a number of reviews on different sites about the 418 and was also considering purchasing the a Tunturi. The Schwinn is quiet and smooth as described by most cross trainer manufacturers but I am impressed at just how much as my previous trainer was thunderous at times. If i have any gripes its that the instructions for the lcd computer are unclear and after a few weeks the footpad cracked slightly. Not sure if it me putting too much pressure onthe sides tho. Anyway the product has a long-term warranty so I just had to request a new one from Schwinn which took a couple of weeks "
"Good, fast delivery from Amazon. All the parts were there and the instructions were fairly straight forward. I have the 2005 model and this is the one that is better as the new ones are manufactured slight different and have had problems. Once i set everything all up (about 3 hours) i took it for a spin whilst watching TV. I've started to lose eight after a few weeks and so I'm glad I got a cross trainer. This one is buy no means advanced like the ones you might find in a top gym and there aren't that many settings however it is stable and well built and my wife likes it too. "
"All good so far and I'm enjoying working out on this machine. It's well designed and and put together, however, the included hand grip pulse rate monitor on the Schwinn 418 is on the stationary hand grips, not on the ones that you hold and exercise with. Not a big problem though."
